Adult Formation

Ongoing faith formation is essential if we want to live as a disciple of Jesus. Programs, speakers, workshops and activities take place throughout the year.

Know Jesus. Make Him known.

Becoming Catholic through OCIA

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), formerly RCIA, welcomes and initiates those who choose to become Catholic by providing Catholic Christian formation. OCIA is for adults who have never been baptized, for adults who have been baptized in another Christian faith and now want to be Catholic, and for adults who have been baptized Catholic but are needing two or more sacraments.

Our OCIA program begins in September. The timeline for full initiation into the Catholic faith for those participating in OCIA varies. Unbaptized adults are typically welcomed into the Church at Easter Vigil. Adults who are baptized in another Christian faith, as well as those who are completing their sacraments, usually celebrate on Pentecost.

Becoming Catholic at Saint Irenaeus Church is a remarkable process that will change your life. Want to learn more? Call us at 714-826-0760 or send an email.

Infant Baptism Preparation

Children are baptized under the condition that parents promise to raise the child as a Catholic Christian. Classes are held about once a month for parents and godparents in preparation for this wonderful sacrament.

There are several steps for Infant Baptism, so it is important to get started at least two months before the desired baptism date.

Step 1: Pick up a baptism registration packet from the parish office or download the pdf here

Step 2: Read the letter and Baptism Information

Step 3: Submit the registration items to the parish office

Step 4: Once everything has been received, you will be contacted by email to schedule the Baptism Prep class

Infant Baptism is for children who have not yet reached their seventh birthday. Please visit our Youth Ministry page for baptism of children age seven to 12th grade. For adult baptism, please call the parish office or send an email.

"I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the holy Spirit."
